Plants possess intricate structures that function as robust and indispensable elements for their survival. My research focuses on pit membranes, which are micron-scaled structures within plant xylem that prevent embolism from spreading during drought. More precisely, I am interested in the chemical composition and mechanical properties of these pit membranes, and how these properties may help plants to survive in drought conditions.
